Cliponaut

An AI video editor that lets you edit videos by simply describing what you want.

Built and launched an AI-native video editing MVP from concept to live product.

The Idea

What if editing a video was as simple as asking for the edit?

Traditional video editors are built around timelines, tracks, and complex controls. I wanted to explore a simpler interaction: describe the edit you want, and let AI handle the rest.

Building with AI

I didn’t start with code. I started with AI.

I didn’t have a traditional coding background when I started Cliponaut. I used AI-assisted development to understand technical concepts, build the product, debug problems, and iterate toward a working MVP.

From prompt to product

The core experience is intentionally simple: upload your clips, describe the edit, let Cliponaut process it, and review the result.

Testing

Built it. Then put it in people’s hands.

I tested the MVP with 25+ users, using their feedback to iterate on the editing experience, AI interactions, and overall usability.

What I learned

Building Cliponaut changed how I think about the role of a Product Designer. AI allowed me to move beyond designing interfaces and directly explore, build, test, and iterate on a working product.
